FAQ

  • What filament do you use?
    Polymaker ASA
  • What kind of printer do you use & what settings?
Printer: I primarily use a Creality CR-10 Smart PRO. It comes with a direct drive extruder, magnetic PEI bed, Wi-Fi support, and a 300x300x400 build volume. IT can also print temperatures up to 300c at the hot end and 100c at the build plate. I insist that you buy a tempered glass bed & use Nono Polymer adhesive from Vision Miner. For best results and fasted print times, I use a 1.00mm Bondtech CHT nozzle, but a .6mm & .8mm nozzle will work as well. For my enclosure I use a standard fire retardant Creality enclosure with a 250w heat bulb that keeps the ambient air around the printer around 50c. Settings: Will vary per printer, materials & user 1mm nozzle 35mm/s for all speeds except travel 1mm line width & 2 Walls .7mm layer height 9% gyroid infill with connected infill lines 250c nozzle 105c hot bed (limit modified using klipper) cooling OFF build plate adhesion: either raft or skirt, both about 10mm wide
  • What printers do you recommend?
I would recommend any printer that is 300x300x300mm or larger. I personally use Creality CR10 Smart Pro printers that have a build volume of 300x300x400. Any bigger and you may encounter serious warp issues. Any smaller and you have more panels to worry about and more time and effort to construct the top.
  • Will you be making tops for other cars?
Yes! But these take a while to organize and get tests going. Ideally Ill have models for the S2000, MR2, and NC Miata working next! If you live in Texas and have any hardtop that youd like scanned, let me know!
  • Where do you test these products out at?
I have a membership at a private racetrack that allows for the test and tuning of products. The controlled environment allows for safe conditions to test various products.
